Lecture Series: Introduction to Surgical Health Services Research (isHSR)

Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA), in partnership with the Youth Council under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, invites medical students, interns, and practicing physicians to apply for the Lecture Series: Introduction to Surgical Health Services Research (isHSR). 

The program is delivered in collaboration with the Center for Surgery and Public Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, one of the world’s leading academic medical centers in clinical research, public health, and medical education.

Participants from Ukraine will have the opportunity to follow a curriculum similar to that completed by Harvard Surgical Research Fellows and become part of an international academic community.

The faculty will include internationally recognized researchers and experts from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. This unique learning environment creates opportunities for future international collaboration, participation in research projects, joint scientific publications, and professional growth within the global academic community.

The first stage of the program will be an introductory lecture held on 12 June 2026 at 16:00 (Kyiv time). Following the lecture, applications for the competitive selection process will open. Selected participants will attend the specialized school, which will take place online from 7 to 30 July 2026.

The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including research design, qualitative and quantitative research methods, scientific writing, academic leadership, mentorship, networking, advocacy, and science communication. Additional modules focus on health equity, public health policy, surgical research, and contemporary approaches to data analysis.

The program is open to medical students, medical interns, PhD candidates, researchers, and physicians from various specialties who are interested in developing competencies in scientific research and evidence-based medicine.

Following the competitive selection process conducted after the introductory lecture, up to 30 participants will be admitted to the main course.
